What is ARISE Children’s Outreach International? ACOI is a Christian ministry reaching out to poor children and their families in the Philippines suffering from poverty. “Endeavoring to be the hands of Jesus as we offer tangible help, along with the tireless message of hope in Jesus Christ.”
A strong hurricane in November, 2013 struck the Central Philippines causing thousands of deaths and displacing many from their homes, loosing their crops and livelihood. On December 6, 2014 a strong typhoon struck the same region, once again causing thousands of people to loose their homes and crops. These catastrophes have greatly burdened Beninda (Bick) Miller (who resides with her husband and three sons near Baltic, OH) having grown up in the Philippines and still having family there.
Bick, who’s sister was a ‘sponsored child’ in 1970, grew up realizing the blessing that came to her home by just one sister being cared for by a couple from Chicago, Illinois. God has used her life and this greater plight to fuel a deeper passion to be involved in giving back to her homeland and its people.
ARISE was founded by Bick to establish a vehicle whereby funds could be raised to encourage children and families under stress. The “Vision” of ARISE is to encourage children back into school, to assist local churches with supplies for ministry to families, to enable the sponsorship of children, to be a voice challenging involvement of believers and To see children becoming followers of Jesus as they witness his love!
As always, we ask that you pray about being part of this mission. If after prayer you are led to support this project, you may designate your giving by writing “Arise” on your church envelopes.
Thank you and God Bless!
NOTE: Bick is asking for our prayers for her safety and health as she travels to her village in the Philippines on March 22nd for a visit and assessment of work to be done and for her return home to Baltic.
