The Shoebox Report After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said, “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan’s purse-to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel. A project of international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s purse, Operation Christmas Child uses gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to millions of children in need around the world. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gifts to more than 113 million children in over 150 countries. In 2014, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough shoeboxes to reach another 10 million children.
