Parson’s Picket – You Must Share Your Testimony

Parson’s Picket – You Must Share Your Testimony

Some time ago at Bible Study we looked at Revelation 12:11 NLT; “And they have defeated him (Satan) by the blood of the lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die”. We focused on 11their testimony”. Part of your witness for Christ is your own personal testimony, the story of what He has done for you.

Believers, in their struggle with Satan, to be victorious, according to verse 11, must share their testimony with other people. Every true believer has a testimony. Some parts of your story are the same as those of other Christians, but some are unique to how Jesus saved you. Divide your salvation story, for greater impact, into three segments: 1) life before you knew Him, 2) the circumstances of your conversion, and, 3) life since Jesus came into your heart. It would strengthen your faith to put it down on paper, to remember the details. If you do, you will also be better prepared to share all or part of it when the Holy Spirit prompts you.

Our study group was then led to Romans 10:9-10; 11lf you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved”. Again, your testimony is crucial to your salvation. You must tell people that you belong to God, that Jesus is your Savior, that he is your lord. This is evidence that your conversion is real, that He is at work in your life, not just your mind.

The Devil wants to get you to doubt your salvation, but it is confirmed every time you tell someone else. Faith says, 11 1 know I am a child of God”. Faith leaves no room for doubt. That’s how we receive this gift of salvation-by faith. Faith knows; and you must know in order to go to Heaven!

We next turned to Luke 12:8-9; 11 1 tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels”. When God tells the angels to gather his children, you don’t want your name left out, do you? Then you must tell others that Jesus is your personal Savior and lord. It’s not supposed to be a secret, something you expect others to figure out, something that is kept personally between you and God. Jesus is glorified when others hear how he saved you from Hell, how he cares for you now, what he has planned for your future, and how much you love him for it. 0 how I love Jesus! I must tell others!

You must not forget how the Holy Spirit can use your testimony to save souls. It’s one of the best and easiest ways to share Christ. People can argue with you about points of religion and truth from now till Judgement Day, but it is difficult for them to challenge your story about what Jesus means to you. One major reason for churches dying is that supposed believers are not sharing their testimonies about Jesus Christ with the lost. Give the Holy Spirit more people to work in by telling them your story.

We had a good Bible Study and were encouraged to witness. Have you been giving your testimony? It helps give you victory over Satan, confirms your salvation, points souls to Him, and brings great glory to God. Tell someone this week what Jesus has done for you.
