This is a local program (in existence for 4 ½ years) founded and directed by Rev. Scott Bell and located in the basement of the Tuscarawas County Administration Building. Quoted from TR article: “We work with those that are coming out of incarceration, homelessness, addiction and just feeling as if they will never get ahead. This population is usually marginalized in towns like Dover/New Philadelphia because we don’t want to admit that we have a marginalized population like that. But I’m here to tell you we do. And so, the mission
statement for our organization is this: Meet people where they are.”
There are an estimated 175 to 200 people who have graduated from Jobs for Life. Compass Center accepts no local, state, or federal grant money. They rely totally on donations. Their Faith perspective program is based on the book of Proverbs as they pray with their clients, pray for their clients and hold Sunday morning services dealing one on one with their issues. To date they have seen 7 baptisms and 2 weddings. Praise God! Pray for this project and use your Thanksgiving envelope or write “Jobs” under other missions on your envelope to give.
