“YOUR WITNESS”

“YOUR WITNESS”

I walked into a Massillon McDonalds last week and said “Hello” to a man drinking coffee at a table. Upon eye contact we both said “Good morning.” He said, “The sunshine looks good.” And I said, “The Lord gave us another day to enjoy.” He said, “Amen.” I said, “You sound like a believer in the Lord. He said, “I sure am. The Lord’s been good to me. I took his words and smile at face value, realizing we are brothers-in-Christ. We talked about God’s blessings for 3-4 minutes before I walked to the counter to order.
My point? God puts two people together for a reason–even for a few short minutes. Are we sensitive to God’s leading? My first thought when we both acknowledged each other was, “Dear Lord, how would you have me witness to this man?” But God wanted two believers to encourage each other. We did! That’s witnessing too, isn’t it? That was God’s will right then.
This is a new column I plan to offer in our monthly Broadway newsletter. I offered the first testimony, and will provide more. But I titled this column “YOUR WITNESS” because I hope you will offer your witnessing experiences so we can all learn by example how it works. Please get me your experiences or send them via email to Tammy at bumc@broadway-umc.org {if you can) or on paper. She’ll forward to me. I’ll review and add a learning point or two to complete each article.

Remember, witnessing Christ may be for a lost person to be saved; for a Christian to be encouraged and drawn closer to Christ. Or, God may simply have you plant a Scriptural seed for any reason as He leads. Also, remember as we witness, we learn and grow, too. Till next time, it’s your witness.
